We are delighted to announce a special touring programme of award winning Festival films!
The tour, with support from Film Hub Scotland (part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network), will see screenings in Ayrshire, Dunoon, Dumfries, Mull and the Isle of Skye this June and July. Each event will include a post-show discussion.
Every year the International Film Competition calls on filmmakers from all over the world to submit their work on mental health, culminating in an awards ceremony at Edinburgh’s Filmhouse. This event showcases a variety of engaging and important work exploring mental health.
The tour will include screenings of two of 2014’s winning films: Best Animation ‘Sea Front’, a beautiful short film about the impact of WWI; and the Jury Prize winning documentary from New York ‘Here One Day’, a striking film about a daughter coming to terms with her mother’s suicide.

HERE ONE DAY (12A)
Documentary, US, 76 mins
When filmmaker Kathy Leichter moved back into her childhood home after her mother’s suicide, she discovered a hidden box of audiotapes. Sixteen years passed before she had the courage to delve into this trove, unearthing details that her mother had recorded about every aspect of her life from the challenges of her marriage to a State Senator, to her son’s estrangement, to her struggles with bipolar disorder.
HERE ONE DAY is a visually arresting, emotionally candid film about a woman coping with mental illness, her relationships with her family, and the ripple effects of her suicide on those she loved.
