Beyond the Canvas is an art exhibition showcasing the resilience and transformative journeys of minority ethnic women who have faced mental health stigma and discrimination.

Over a series of ten workshops, facilitated by experienced artists, participants have created art pieces that tell their stories of mental illness, stigma, hope and recovery. The exhibition aims to foster understanding and connection within minority ethnic spaces, academia and the wider Scottish community. Hosted at the University of Glasgow, the month-long exhibition will be complemented by a digital gallery accessible on Empower Women for Change’s website and partner organisations’ social media pages.

Beyond the Canvas is a great way to show how the community and university can come together to create new perspectives and ideas and make connections to improve mental health and wellbeing.
