Across cultures and throughout history, people have created charms and amulets as objects of protection, comfort, hope, and connection. This creative workshop invites participants to explore these traditions through hands-on engagement with museum objects from around the world.

Using objects from the Charms and Amulets collection, participants will discover the stories behind objects connected to beliefs, rituals, good fortune, and personal protection, while reflecting on the ways people use meaningful objects to navigate uncertainty, express identity, and support emotional wellbeing.

Following the object handling session, participants will take part in a guided creative activity using tin embossing techniques to design and create their own personal amulet. Participants are encouraged to think about symbols, intentions, and the meanings they might want to carry with them in everyday life.

Part of the Feel Well programme, this workshop combines museum collections, creativity, and reflective making to create space for conversation, connection, and wellbeing. No previous art experience needed.
