The Mental Health Forum – launched in May 2025 – brings together third sector organisations, statutory partners, and independent sector providers to take a collaborative and collective approach to overcoming challenges in delivering mental health support across Dumfries & Galloway. The forum is a consistent, dedicated space for partners across sectors to connect, share knowledge, and drive forward innovative approaches to supporting mental health.

OutPost Arts – an innovative arts organisation spearheading creative health and wellbeing initiatives across D&G – are partnering with Third Sector D&G to host this special edition of the Mental Health Forum, collaborating across thematic sectors to put mental health at the centre. OutPost Arts will present examples of work delivered as part of their regional DG Creative Wellbeing programme, which will spark conversation and ideas around new strategic approaches that promote collaboration and joint working.

As part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, we’re diving into the theme of Comfort & Disturb – exploring how art and culture can soothe, challenge, and transform how we think about mental health.

Together, we will:

Discuss and discover the power of creativity in mental health support

Explore opportunities to connect, collaborate, and co-create across sectors

Challenge perceptions of creative approaches to mental health and wellbeing support

Expect a lively mix of art, conversation, and reflection – with a side of inspiration. Whether you work in mental health, community support, or creative industries, are someone who uses/has used mental health services, or just care deeply about wellbeing – this space is for you.

You’ll leave with new connections, practical takeaways, and maybe even your own art zine to remind you of the power of doing things differently.
