In this sculpture workshop — taking place on Halloween — you’ll create a physical representation of the inner monster that criticises and sabotages self-confidence, removing its power.
We all have that inner voice called the pathological critic, that sabotages our self-confidence and knocks us down in defeat. We scrutinise our features in the mirror, disliking those parts that don’t fit into society’s “perfect” looks and body image. This is followed by intense shame and feelings of failure.
This inner voice is known as the pathological critic. In this sculpture workshop you’ll create a physical representation of your own personal monster with the aim of diminishing and removing its power while laughing at it together in this non-judgmental community group space.
Participants will be asked to score their physical features from their favorite to least on a handout. The monster is created by inverting these scores and using these dimensions to create their own paper mâché sculpture of their own pathological critic, that inner voice that makes us doubt ourselves and crumbles our self-confidence.
This workshop takes place on Halloween, the day when monsters are exposed and accepted.
