Creative Comfort Zones: Brave Spaces and the Edges of Ease is a participatory outreach initiative culminating in three immersive events across North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire and Glasgow — with the Glasgow event hosted and supported by Glasgow Print Studio.
These events will bring together participants from Bazooka Arts’ outreach workshops with wider audiences interested in exploring the themes of comfort, creativity and mental health.
Through a range of artforms, the project invites reflection on:
- The role creativity can play in fostering comfort
- How the arts can support mental health and wellbeing in times of need and over the longer term
- Expanding personal creative comfort zones
- Being bolder and braver to explore new forms of creativity and unfamiliar environments
- How public cultural spaces can feel accessible, welcoming and comfortable
The outreach programme and immersive events offer opportunities to engage with these themes by taking part in or witnessing a variety of creative experiences, including:
- Workshops in visual arts, printmaking, design, drama, story work, and creative writing
- Performances of participant-made theatre and films
- Exhibitions of artwork created during the workshops
About Bazooka Arts
Bazooka Arts aims to actively engage people who may need encouragement and support to access participatory arts. This includes working with local support services and drawing on their own community mental health and wellbeing programmes for adults, children and young people, our carer breather initiative, and ongoing arts for wellbeing programmes in North and South Lanarkshire.
