Join us to celebrate the launch of a new book of writing, artwork and photography by people who have experienced longer stays at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. The evening will feature readings, a film screening, plus your chance to pick up a copy.

The Patients Council at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital has been collecting stories, artwork, photography, and poetry by people who have experienced longer stays in the hospital, as well as writing from staff members. Part of the Stories of Changing Lives series, these are being brought together as a book and a film.

Join us to celebrate the launch of both - hear readings from the book, see the first ever screening of the film, and, of course, pick up your copy. Whether you'd like to hear from people with similar experiences to you, understand more about what it's like to spend time in hospital, or find out about the ways in which people live well and shape services - everyone is welcome!

You can see photographs and artwork from the book, plus objects and testimonies from the history of activism at the Royal Ed, as part of the Out of Sight Out of Mind exhibition at Summerhall throughout SMHAF.

By the Patients Council, in partnership with CAPS, Outlook, and Chiaroscuro, funded by NHS Mental Health and Wellbeing Team and SHMAF Small Grants.
