Reclaiming Beauty - Nature and Creativity with 'Earth For Life' (Family)
In contemporary language, the terms “nutter” and “basket weaver” carry obvious stigma about mental health, but in times gone by they described people whose knowledge and skill made them a legitimate and sustainable living from the woods. The practices involved in such work were actually used in early forms of therapy for mental health patients, often with excellent results!
By learning the skills of foraging, environmental art and willow craft, we reclaim a connection with nature which was the birthright of our ancestors, even down to relatively recent times.
Experiencing the beauty of nature with all our senses and creating beautiful things with natural materials we find in the forest, we reclaim our own beauty, which is our true nature, regardless of whatever is going on in our lives.
People can do their own art therapy in nature – this is eco-therapy, and this is ours to reclaim for ourselves, now!
