If you can’t make it to our Now You See Us showcase in Glasgow, we’ll bring Now You See Us to you! This online event features a discussion with some of the exciting artists who have created new commissions for this year’s festival.

Join cellist and poet Simone Seales, actor and writer Sanjay Lago, and storyteller Jane Mather for this discussion about their new commissions and how they relate to mental health and our 2024 festival theme ‘In/Visible’. Simone has curated an evening of music and poetry for the in-person event Broken Silences; an intimate, collective healing experience for those who have felt invisible. For this online discussion, they will talk about the importance of collective healing, acknowledging trauma, and not pathologizing our feelings.

Sanjay Lago will discuss why he feels it’s important to raise the visibility of queer South Asian mental health and to share the experience of a community rarely portrayed in theatre, the impetus for his new solo performance Floating Along Silently.

Jane Mather will reveal the process behind the making of her incredible storytelling and music adventure In the Hartwood. This magical, modern-day faerie tale explores mental health and the healing power of nature and is based on research into a paupers’ cemetery in the grounds of Hartwood Hospital, a decommissioned psychiatric hospital near Shotts.

Join us for this fascinating conversation.

In case you are unable to attend our in-person events, the festival has teamed up with Arts Culture Health and Wellbeing Scotland to curate a series of four online discussions featuring some of our speakers and other invited guests. Please scroll down for details of the other three events.
