What are the challenges, and rewards, of creating participatory arts projects that focus on mental health? Why is this work important and how should it be supported?

The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival is currently developing a good practice resource for people making participatory arts and mental health projects, in partnership with Creative Scotland and the Baring Foundation, and building on our Performing Anxiety resource from 2024.

At this online event you can hear from people who have worked on participatory arts and mental health projects across Scotland, as artists, organisations and participants. Together we will explore the question: what does good practice look – and feel – like?

There will also be an opportunity to find out about SMHAF’s 2026 Regional Participatory Arts Fund, which opens for applications soon.

Hosted by Andrew Eaton-Lewis, Arts Programme Officer for the Mental Health Foundation. Find out more by emailing Andrew at aeaton-lewis@mentalhealth.org.uk.
