RECLAIM THE FUTURE
A collaborative performance by young people, this evening of drama, dance, music and spoken word poetry aims to reclaim a more positive future about mental health and provide a platform for young people’s voices.
Reclaim the Future is a collaborative performance in which young people use art to reflect about mental health. Using drama, dance, music and spoken poetry the performers reclaim a future in which mental health would be seen with a more positive outcome and young people's voices would be heard in relation to topics that matter to them. They, as well, aim to raise awareness about mental health issues, express themselves and end stigma encouraging other youngsters to be open about their mental health.
With the support of Renfrewshire Youth Services, different youth clubs came together in this exploration of mental health from a youth perspective with the idea of reclaiming a better future with a more positive vision about mental health: L.A.D.D.S. drama club will play How Adram changed my life, Jump Dance Crew will create a dance piece on mental health and future; Create Paisley will host different songwriting and spoken poetry workshops from end August to October to reflect on the topic of Reclaim the Future and create pieces for the performance.
