This exhibition celebrates the artistic achievements of an often underrepresented prison community, challenges negative stereotypes and stigma, and aims to foster a sense of inclusion and visibility of the mental health in custody.
Presented by Community Justice Scotland in collaboration with the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) and Fife College’s Learning Centre at SPS, it showcases the creative works of people in custody at HMP Low Moss and offers a unique perspective on the intersection of mental health, wellbeing and the justice system.
The pieces draw from an informative Restorative Justice (RJ) session held by Community Justice Scotland at Low Moss, exploring how RJ – an approach that prioritises people, addresses harm, and supports rehabilitation and healing – can reshape the criminal justice landscape in Scotland. The exhibition also demonstrates the country’s journey towards developing Restorative Justice, highlights its impact on mental health and role in empowering individuals to heal and move forward.
