Ten years ago, a Bazooka Arts SMHAF workshop hosted in East Kilbride led to the creation of Theatre Tonic. Join Theatre Tonic as they celebrate their anniversary with the screening of a new film about the therapeutic impact or ‘tonic’ of theatre-making and performance.
The film, Spotlights and Shadows, looks back at the performances the group have created and the impact that attending regular drama workshops and performing has had on their lives. Many group members live with a range of long-term conditions affecting their mental and physical health and the film explores how being seen on stage as an actor and creative contrasts with everyday experiences of stigma in society, and how it has helped challenge such stigma.
The film project has been made possible with support from See Me, Challenging Stigma Art Fund.
