This powerful solo exhibition explores grief, healing and transformation through bold abstract paintings. Created in the wake of personal loss, The Colour of Grief traces an emotional journey from darkness to colour.

After the sudden death of her father — a well-known architect and artist — Sasha Shalmina turned to painting as a way to process her grief. What began as an attempt to work in his style soon led to the discovery of her own voice, and ultimately, a complete reinvention of her life and artistic practice.

The exhibition begins with digital works full of turbulence and movement, giving way to quieter, more grounded oil paintings. The final works embrace stillness, reflecting a deep acceptance. Supporting video material brings the canvases together and takes the viewer on an immersive experience of emotional recovery.

50% of proceeds from all original artwork, prints and postcards will go to Cruse Scotland, a national bereavement charity providing vital support for those facing loss. Visitors will be able to donate directly at the exhibition and learn more about the charity’s work through on-site materials.

Join us on Fri 10 Oct for the opening event, including drinks, a short artist talk, and a representative from Cruse Scotland speaking about the impact of their work.

This exhibition is for anyone who has experienced grief, loves art, or believes in the healing power of creativity.
