Trine on Fire
d. Alexander Lind (Denmark, 2025)

UK Premiere

At 34, Trine set her house on fire, an act that led to a long-term stay in a forensic psychiatric hospital. Eleven years later, she is determined to begin anew and embarks on an ambitious theatrical project and documentary film.

With support of filmmaker Alexander Lind, Trine works over three years to stage a production that fearlessly explores her deepest and darkest truths—a journey she hopes will finally bring her liberation.

Blending video diaries, narration, archival material and scenes from the play, the documentary sets Trine’s hospitalisation alongside her life in the present. Led by her voice and agency, it offers a compassionate insight into long-term psychiatric care and her determination to confront her guilt and repair her emotional bond with her parents.

Theatre becomes a space to express what cannot be shared either in clinical settings or everyday conversations, while Trine’s warmth, humour and forceful personality light up to this compassionate and meticulously crafted documentary.

Includes a Q&A with director Alexander Lind, hosted by Dr Parvinder Shergill.
