Unseen, Unheard, Unbroken: An Exhibition Created by Unpaid Carers
Part of the North Ayrshire Mental Health Arts Festival, Unseen, Unheard, Unbroken is a moving exhibition created by adult and young unpaid carers working with Carers Gateway North Ayrshire. Developed over six weeks of community-based workshops led by artists Michelle Winslow and Tragic O’Hara, the exhibition explores the emotional and mental health impacts of caring through diverse visual art.
Blending natural materials and bold street-art techniques, the works offer honest, creative reflections on the realities of unpaid care—often unseen and unacknowledged. This co-produced exhibition places carers at the heart of the creative process, giving voice to their stories and experiences.
More than just art, this exhibition is a testament to resilience, identity, and the power of expression. It invites the public to engage with care in a new light—through the eyes of those who live it every day.
