Dance is a powerful tool for improving mental wellbeing. It boosts self-esteem, encourages self-expression, and helps us connect with others in meaningful ways.
These weekly one-hour workshops invite participants to explore movement and exercise in a relaxed and supportive environment. Sessions will take place at East Kilbride Arts Centre and Rutherglen Town Hall.
Led by an experienced tutor, each workshop will introduce a variety of fun and accessible dance exercises. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or trying it for the first time, you’ll be encouraged to move at your own pace and enjoy the process.
Learning new dance moves and skills can be challenging, but it also brings a sense of achievement and pride. Performing—even in a small group setting—can help build confidence that carries into everyday life. Dance also allows us to express emotions that might be hard to put into words, offering a creative outlet for feelings and experiences without judgement from others.
Importantly, dance is social. These workshops create space for laughter, conversation, and shared experiences, building strong relationships with dancers, teachers, and choreographers. Being part of a group where you feel safe to express yourself and be seen can have a lasting positive impact on mental health.
As the saying goes, “Those who dance together, stay together.” Come along, move your body, lift your spirits, and discover the joy of dancing with others.
