Ruth has a broad range of experiences within the arts and health field, ranging from outreach drama work to her current position as a health improvement lead within the NHS.

In Easterhouse, Glasgow, in the early 2000s she was part of an anti-stigma programme called ‘Positive Mental Attitudes’. They used art and creative tools to challenge attitudes and assumptions about mental health in the community.

Excerpts:

“I think one of the things that I loved about that kind of arts work was the ability for people to define themselves in a different way.”

“…defining themselves as an artist or as, you know, a writer or even as a participant or a volunteer or a friend or that, that stuff to me was incredibly powerful and did a lot.”
