Echoes of Self is an exhibition by Artspace participants responding to this year’s theme, Reflections. Developed with professional artist and Artspace Programme Coordinator Aya Iguchi-Sherry, it explores identity, self-image, memory, belonging and personal growth.
Through experimental painting, drawing and mixed media, participants reflect on how they see themselves, how others may see them and the experiences that have shaped their lives. Each artwork offers a personal and creative insight into lived experience. Together, the works celebrate a diversity of perspectives and demonstrate the power of creativity to support communication, connection and recovery.
Echoes of Self celebrates the voices, talents and achievements of Artspace participants, showing how creative practice can nurture confidence, reduce isolation and support positive mental wellbeing.
About Artspace
Artspace is Artlink Central’s arts programme supporting people in Stirling living with mental health conditions. Commissioned by Stirling Council Social Care, it provides a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where participants can develop their creativity, learn new artistic skills and improve their wellbeing through meaningful engagement with the arts.
Working alongside professional artists, participants explore a range of creative disciplines while developing their own artistic practice and personal projects. The programme aims to build confidence, resilience, self-esteem and social connections, supporting participants to set personal goals and discover their creative voice. It also offers opportunities to connect with local cultural organisations, exhibit artwork publicly and celebrate individual achievements.
